Our Current Initiatives

SIF Ireland

Since 2017, the development of a Sustainable Finance Community in Ireland has been strongly supported by the Sustainable & Responsible Investment Forum (SIF) Ireland.

Sustainable & Responsible Investment Forum (SIF) Ireland is the national platform for all members of the financial services industry, policy makers and intermediaries to advance sustainable and responsible investing best practice across all financial service sector activities in Ireland. Established in 2017 by Sustainable Finance Ireland and leading members of the Irish investment community, SIF Ireland is tasked, under the Government’s recently launched ‘Ireland for Finance Roadmap’, with raising awareness of the sustainable and responsible investment agenda, as it continues to grow rapidly in Ireland and around the world.

All SIF Ireland activities are overseen by a Steering Committee. The work of the Steering Committee is supported by a number of advisors, who are world leading experts in the field of sustainable and responsible investing.

The network addresses both technical and non-technical skills needs of members.

The objective of this national network is to support sustainable business growth and practices in Ireland by embedding sustainable approaches within firms through the delivery of specialised training aimed at business leaders and employees.

Sustainable Finance Skillnet is promoted by Sustainable Finance Ireland t/a Sustainability Matters CLG. Membership of the network is open to private enterprises in the sustainability and international financial services sectors based in the Republic of Ireland.

Climate Finance Week

Climate Finance Week Ireland is a unique programme of events that focus on sustainable finance and responsible investment as well as Ireland’s drive to a carbon neutral economy. Supported by the Department of Finance and sponsored by AIB.

In light of the recent COVID-19 global pandemic, Climate Finance Week Ireland 2020 saw a series of online events take place across the first week in November including inspirational sustainability and climate themed talks, interactive workshops and high-impact events attended by senior domestic and international corporate leaders, financiers and key policy makers. A highlight of Climate Finance Week Ireland 2020 was the Annual AIB Sustainability Conference.

Co-hosted by the Department of Finance and Sustainable Finance Ireland in 2019, Sustainable Finance Day 2019 – ‘Catalysing Global Savings to Advance our Sustainability Goals’ – represented the biggest gathering of leading international financial institutions and asset managers ever held in Ireland focused on this topic.

After the success of Sustainable Finance Day 2019, the world’s leading international financial institutions and asset managers were to return to Dublin in 2020, however, this was postponed due to the COVID-19 global pandemic. The event will return in 2021.
